About Us - Lake Louise

Because Lake Louise is a recreation and tourism destination, it offers plenty of accommodation but there are also facilities for those staying a while longer. A village mall offers everything from clothes to groceries and an RCMP detachment serves the Lake Louise area.

The Lake Louise village is located inside Banff National Park--Canada's first national park and only the third national park in the world. The primary reason people go to Lake Louise is recreation. There are some of the most spectacular ski hills anywhere at Lake Louise and within driving distance. The views from the Lake Louise ski area rival those of any ski hill anywhere in the world.

But Lake Louise isn't just about skiing. Lake Louise also offers some of the most spectacular all-season scenery anywhere in the world. Much of the scenery can be accessed by car but some of the most awe-inspiring ruggedness is available only by foot. Just a few kilometres from the Lake Louise Station is Moraine Lake. You may not recognize the name but you might recognize the scenery--it's featured on the last version of our Canadian Twenty Dollar bill.

Of course, there is plenty of spectacular sights to see in Banff National Park but Yoho National Park is only a twenty to thirty minute drive west. Yoho National Park is just inside the British Columbia boundary and offers many recreational opportunities similar to those you'll find in and around Lake Louise.
