About Us

Excerpt from a September 28, 1994 edition of a local newspaper.

The romance of railroading is alive and well at Canadian Pacific's 85-year old station at Lake Louise.

A one-year project carried out by Lake Louise Limited Partnership has been spearheaded by its management team, President Cynthia Magee and Vice Presidents Jerry Cook and Bill Weber.

The Station's four dining rooms--complimented by its active full-service dining car--feature excellent meals at reasonable prices.

In 1910 the Canadian Pacific Railway built a beautiful railway station at Lake Loiuse--rustic log walls, a roof of cedar shingles painted red, two-storey leaded bow windows, and a three-hearth fireplace--the whole building surrounded by gardens fine enough to be entered in the nation-wide competition for the best station garden. [. . .]

The enthusiasm and excitement of arriving visitors, the teary-eyed departures of summer staff, the gaiety of Christmas parties and the thrill of skiing or climbing expeditions, all spring to mind -- evocative of times past which are revived in the present.

The Lake Louise Station has been and remains very much a labour of love. The original management team who renovated the Station building and grounds in 1994 continues to own and operate the Station. From a business perspective, they saw the potential of the buildings and property. From a philosophical point of view, they saw the buildings and property as something deserving preservation--something that ought to continue as part of the Canadian landscape.

They renovated and upgraded the Station in a year and began operations. Renovations included the design and construction of a new bar, custom made furniture, and enlarging the outdoor dining area.

Arts and Crafts furniture was chosen as a significant contribution to the ambience, since the Arts and Crafts style was very popular at the time. One of the management team, Bill Weber owns and operates a millwork company, meaning the woodwork and architectural features got the attention they deserve.

You'll find that kind of attention to detail throughout the Station. We look forward to serving you in our heritage home and restaurant in the mountains. We hope to see you soon.
